A board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Hasson received both his undergraduate and medical school degrees from Duke University. He did his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Stanford University and completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the renowned Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic under the tutelage of sports medicine icons Jack Hughston, M.D. and James Andrews, M.D. Dr. Hasson has been a fixture in South Austin since 1983, when South Austin Hospital was but a small, community hospital. His practice has grown to include patients from all over Central Texas. He has a general orthopaedic practice, including fracture care, with a special interest in sports medicine, knee arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction, and total joint replacements of the hip and knee. A former collegiate lacrosse and football player himself, Dr. Hasson has been the team physician for Westlake High School for over 27 years. Dr. Hasson currently serves on the board of directors of the Greater Austin Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. Previously, he has served as both medical director and on the board of directors of the Texas Special Olympics, and on the boards of the South Austin Chaplain Ministries and the Austin Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He has received the "Champions of FCA" and "You Make a Difference in EISD" awards and the "Contribution to Amateur Football" award from the National Football Foundation. The Consumers' Research Council of America has repeatedly named Dr. Hasson as one of "America's Top Physicians." He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. A board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Roden received his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York, and his medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco and the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children in St. Louis. Dr. Roden has over 26 years of experience in many areas of orthopaedics, to include fractures; arthroscopy and reconstruction of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle; total joint replacements of the hip and knee; back injuries; and hand surgery. Dr. Roden has been interested in athletic medicine and injury management since his varsity football player and graduate assistant coaching days at West Point. This experience has benefited many of his patients and their families in the management of their unique orthopaedic “problems." Dr. Roden evaluates all of his patients with the goal of getting them safely "back in the game." He has provided medical support and treatment for the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, several high school athletic programs in Georgia, as well as Akins High School and Lehman High School in the Austin area. He has supervised and instructed other surgeons in orthopaedic training programs at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Duke University, Walter Reed Medical Center, and Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Dr. Roden is a member of the board of directors of the Greater Austin Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. He is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Surgeons and of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Board-certified in orthopaedic surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine,Dr. Oronoz (Joaquin F. Oronoz) received his undergraduate degree from the University of Puerto Rico and his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his internship and residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas. After 13 years of military service, Dr. Oronoz settled in Laredo in 2001, where he earned the respect of the community, his patients, and his peers, and became one of the preeminent knee and shoulder surgeons in the city. His well-rounded training and experience of over 13 years includes: general orthopaedics and fracture care; knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow, and wrist arthroscopy; joint replacement of the knee, hip, and shoulder; and surgery of the elbow, wrist, hand, ankle, and foot. Through his own initiative, he cultivated an interest in sports medicine, completing the requirements to become board-certified in 2010. A former collegiate basketball player as a walk-on, he has been the team physician for all of the professional minor league sports teams in Laredo for the past 10 years, including ice hockey, baseball, and arena football. A competent and experienced surgeon, Dr. Oronoz's biggest asset is his passion for his patients and his bedside manner. He believes in trying everything in his power to return his patients back to their pre-injury level of function. As a result, the patients feel a sense of comfort that fosters teamwork and loyalty. This, in turn, creates positive results. He is moving to Austin to continue in his journey of self-improvement and to provide the best environment in which to raise his family.
